Sun 3rd Shearing Shed Set-Up and Fleece Preparation

There is going to be is a practical, hands-on 'Shearing Shed Set-Up and Fleece Preparation' workshop held in Orange on Sunday, 3 June 2018.

 

The presenter will be Fiona Vanderbeek.

 

This is a great opportunity to learn the value of all parts of your alpaca fleece. Topics covered include:

• Pre-shearing planning and preparation • Shearing shed set-up • Sorting, skirting and packaging of fleece • Midside testing • Shearing sequence • Risk Assessment • Fleece sorting • Fleece skirting • Packaging and storage

 

All are welcome, not just AAA members, so please invite others who may have alpacas.

 

The cost will be - AAA Members $10 & Non members $30. This includes the course, morning, lunch and afternoon tea.

If you have several suri or huacaya fleece to bring that is great, however for new members or people interested, if they do not have a fleece to bring please let us know and we will provide fleeces.

Birhting workshop is being held at Tirrikee Aplacas in Bathurst on Saturday 21 July (full) and Sunday 22 July (almost full) 2018. 

 

It’s a fantastic one day, hands on workshop and many people return for a second or third workshop for a refresher and to learn new things.

Sat 20th Murrumbateman Field Days

The Murrumbateman Field Days (MFD) are being held on Saturday 20 & Sunday 21 October 2018.

 

MFD attracts over 20,000 people from the region each year and 500+ exhibitors, making it one of the region’s largest annual events.  And with Murrumbateman turning 40 this year, it is expected to be the biggest field days yet!

 

The AAA has been present at this event for many years now, and we would like to invite any interested members to come along and join as an exhibitor. Bring along an animal or two, fleeces and any products you may wish to expose and/or sell (yarn, fleece, garments, products etc).

 

Cost: $50 per stud for both days.

 

Supply: Members will need to supply their own tent / marquee and panels. If members don’t have panels they can be borrow from the region (picked up and dropped back to Carolyn Austin’s property in Bowning).

 

Alpacas: Members are responsible for their own alpacas at all times – Animals must be secured in their floats over night or taken home.
